oil change

When Was Your GMC or Buick's Last Oil Change?

Whether you're cruising in a GMC Sierra or a Buick Enclave, one of the simplest and most crucial ways to keep it running well is a regular oil change. Keeping track of when you last changed your oil at the Buick dealer can save you from a host of car problems. more How Long Should You Go Between Oil Changes? Thanks to advancements in engine technology and higher-quality oils, most GMC and Buick vehicles can now comfortably travel 5,000 to 7,500 miles between changes.  Some cars can even stretch it further, but for specific recommendations, you should always consult the owner's manual for your vehicle. Signs You Are Overdue for Fresh Oil Illuminated Check Engine or Oil Light Modern GMC and Buick vehicles come equipped with an oil life monitoring system. If your dashboard displays either the oil or check engine light, take it as a sign your car needs a service appointment. Dirty or Dark Oil Fresh engine oil is a clear amber color, but it darkens with use. Check your oil regularly using the dipstick. If it's dark, thick, or gritty, it's time for a change. Engine Noise and Knocking Good engine oil creates a protective barrier between the parts of your engine, reducing the friction when they rub together. If your oil gets too old, you might notice an increase in the noise your engine is making, or even hear a knocking sound, indicating that parts are starting to wear down. Oil Smell Inside the Car If you ever notice the smell of oil inside the cabin of your car, it could mean that you have an oil leak, allowing the oil to drip into part of your engine where it can burn off. Oil leaks can also cause smoke to come from your exhaust. Consequences of Not Changing Your Oil Neglecting to change your oil can lead to a cascade of engine problems. Without the proper lubrication fresh oil provides, engine parts can rub against each other, causing wear and overheating. This not only reduces your vehicle's efficiency but can lead to complete engine failure, something that could require expensive repairs or even a new engine. Head to the Buick Dealer for Fresh Oil If it's time to change that oil, head to the dealership. With professional technicians and specialized equipment, we can have you in, out, and back on the road in no time. Regularly changing the oil in your vehicle can help you maintain efficiency, prevent engine damage, and keep that car rolling smoothly for years to come. If you can't recall the last time you changed your oil, it might be time. Call Casa Buick GMC and schedule your service today.

Alternator

Does Your Buick or GMC Vehicle Need an Alternator?

Whenever you're on the road, your vehicle's alternator uses the engine's power to generate electricity for the battery and other components. If an alternator malfunctions, the other electrical parts are never far behind. Here are some common warning signs that your car is in need of immediate alternator repair at your local GMC dealership. more Does Your Buick or GMC Vehicle Need an Alternator Repair? Trouble Starting the Engine Have you tried to turn on your car's engine and only heard a clicking sound, without a response from the engine? When a car fails to start, unless the starter itself is faulty, the battery may be dead because of a bad alternator. Try jump-starting your car; if the engine keeps going, your alternator is probably fine and your battery might have died for some other reason. Repeatedly Dying Battery The battery depends on the alternator for all of its power. So if your battery keeps failing to recharge properly, either your battery is too old or your alternator is malfunctioning. You may need to have a technician diagnose the problem. Faint or Flickering Headlamps If your vehicle's headlamps rapidly fade in brightness, your alternator may be to blame. If the light ahead of your car begins to flicker, the supply of voltage may be fluctuating as the alternator dies. Problems With Several Accessories With a failing alternator, all of your car's electronics will also suffer. Modern cars often have a prioritization system in place in the event of an electrical supply issue. This means your nonessential accessories such as the stereo and heated seats will lose power before the headlamps and spark plugs. Smell of Burning Wiring When the wiring in or connected to an alternator becomes damaged, it can cause resistance to the flow of voltage. This might cause overheating and an electrical fire, in which case you may smell something burning. An overloaded alternator might sometimes also cause burning wiring by pushing excessive voltage through the wires. Blinking Alternator Light Some vehicles have an "ALT" warning light that appears on the dashboard when an alternator fault is detected. Alternatively, you may see the battery warning light appear. Neither of these warning lights should be ignored, as the electrical supply is vital to the proper functioning of any modern car. Replace Your Alternator at Your GMC Dealer Every Seven Years Alternators are hardy car components that usually last from 80,000 to 150,000 miles. The average driver will have to replace their alternator about once every seven years. If you're lucky, your faulty alternator may be repairable with the help of a skillful technician. Have your alternator checked, repaired, or replaced today at Casa Buick GMC. We're a local family-owned dealership dedicated to treating all customers like family.

5 Benefits of Getting Car Financing at Your GMC Dealer

If you're in the market for a new vehicle, but you don't have quite enough cash to pay for it upfront, you'll likely end up financing your purchase. When you finance a vehicle, you're taking out a loan for the car and agreeing to pay it back over time. A lot of consumers find that the best place to arrange car financing is through their local GMC dealer. more 5 Benefits of Getting Car Financing at Your GMC Dealer 1. It Makes Trading in a Vehicle Even Easier The process of trading in a vehicle can influence the type of financing you are awarded. Consumers who trade in vehicles typically receive a credit that can be applied to the purchase of their new car. This credit reduces the amount you'll need to borrow, and we can take that into account when arranging financing for you at the dealership. We will take care of the trade-in and your financing in one step, which is highly convenient and saves you time. 2. It May Qualify You for Incentives When you arrange vehicle financing through the dealership, you may qualify for incentives like cash back, rebates, and low interest rates. Drivers with excellent credit may even qualify for zero-percent financing through the dealership. 3. It's an Option for Those With Poor Credit Many of us have credit scores that need a little work. If you have poor credit and are worried about your ability to get financing, your local dealership may be a good option. We have an extensive network of lenders that we work with, and we often arrange financing for buyers who have poor credit or no credit. We want everyone to have the opportunity to purchase a vehicle. And many buyers find that financing a vehicle and paying it back can build their credit history and raise their credit score long-term. 4. It May Give You More Time To Pay Back the Loan Dealerships are often more likely to award financing with a longer term, which means the repayment period will be stretched out over a longer period. When you have a longer term, your monthly payment is usually lower, which saves room in your budget for other things. 5. It's Fast If you're financing a vehicle, working through your local dealer is the fastest and easiest way of arranging a loan. In just a couple of hours, you can walk onto the car lot, select and purchase your next set of wheels, finance it, and drive it home. Dealer financing gets you into a new car quickly and with a minimum of hassle. There are a lot of benefits associated with dealer financing. When you're ready to finance your next vehicle, head straight to Casa Buick GMC.

radiator installation

Does Your Buick or GMC Vehicle Need a Radiator Repair?

Your GMC has a very efficient cooling system. A cooling system is essential, as an engine generates large quantities of heat as it operates. Part of the heat generated comes from the combustion, and the rest from hundreds of fast-moving engine components. The radiator removes this heat from your engine. Over time, your radiator can become worn or damaged. These are a few signs that you need to see your GMC dealer for a radiator repair. more Signs You Need a Radiator Repair at Your GMC Dealer Coolant Leaks Coolant is a liquid mixture of water and antifreeze. It's pumped through your engine at high speed and absorbs heat as it moves. The heat is then locked inside the coolant and transported to the radiator. Inside the radiator, the coolant enters the radiator fins. Cool air blows in through the radiator grille, and this airflow over the fins removes the heat. A coolant leak is usually easy to identify. If coolant leaks out of the cooling system, you'll see pink, blue, green, or yellow liquid on the ground. Coolant can sometimes leak into your engine. The leaking coolant will leave the exhaust system and generate a thick white cloud. We can trace a coolant leak, and then we'll repair it. Damaged Water Pump As we saw, coolant must be continually pumped through the engine to control the temperature. The water pump is responsible for pumping coolant, and it varies the pumping speed depending on the level of heat in your machine. If the temperature increases, the pump speeds up, and it slows down as the temperature drops. A water pump can eventually fail. Coolant will be released if this happens, but won't move through your engine. Your engine will steadily overheat without the flow of coolant, and your temperature gauge will rapidly increase. If this happens, call our service department right away. We'll examine the pump, and we can install a new one if required. Loose Hose Clamps Two thick rubber hoses connect the radiator to the rest of your cooling system. These hoses allow hot coolant to flow into the top of the radiator and cooled coolant to flow out the bottom. Strong clamps are used to securely connect the hoses to the radiator, as the hoses will move in response to the high-speed movement of hot coolant. Radiator clamps can slowly loosen over time. A loose clamp can cause highly-pressurized coolant to leak out. Air will also be able to enter the cooling system through the gap. This can result in a blockage in the cooling system due to an air bubble. We'll examine the clamps and tighten them or replace them. If you have a radiator problem, call us right away at Casa Buick GMC.
