Strong clamps are used to securely connect the hoses to the radiator, as the hoses will move in response to the high-speed movement of hot coolant. Radiator clamps can slowly loosen over time. A loose clamp can cause highly-pressurized coolant to leak out. Air will also be able to enter the cooling system through the gap.
