Regular Buick maintenance or GMC maintenance replaces worn or damaged components that reduce vehicle performance. The various seasons place additional demands on your vehicle, and as your Buick and GMC dealer, we want to tell you some of the specialized maintenance we offer for each season.
From Your Dealer: Buick Maintenance and GMC Maintenance for Each Season
Spring
Our Texas summers get hot, and you need your trusty AC to deliver cold air on demand. We ensure the belts are in good condition, the AC is oiled, and we test the compressor, condenser, and other systems to make sure they’re working properly. We also check for system leaks and that the refrigerant level is full.
Spring is also the time to check the wiper blades and replace them if necessary. The rubber blades lose flexibility over time and can crack and break. Damaged blades scrape against the windshield and can cause scratches that lead to cracks. In addition, worn blades won’t be cleaned correctly, leaving smears that reduce visibility.
Summer
The engine works most efficiently between 185 F and 220 F, but the heat generated by combustion makes it even hotter. A cooling system service is vital to keep that temperature under control. We examine your radiator, hoses, and all other components and replace worn parts. We also top up the coolant or replace it as necessary.
The heat also increases your tire pressure, and overinflated tires suffer increased center tread wear that can cause leaks or a blowout. Tire pressure increases naturally by 1 to 2 PSI per 10 degrees of temperature. We’ll readjust the tire pressure to help prolong tire life.
Fall
It’s time to test your battery before winter arrives. While it’s not cold enough in El Paso, TX to cause the electrolyte to freeze, lower temperatures can still weaken an already worn battery, causing it to fail. We hook your battery to our computerized battery tester to identify any weaknesses and gauge the battery’s remaining life. If your battery is failing, we’ll replace it.
Winter
The longer, darker nights mean your headlights must work correctly. If the bulbs look dim, it’s time to change them. Bulbs have a lifespan ranging from 500 hours to 30,000 hours but can fail sooner. We’ll also check the headlight lenses are clear and scratch-free, as damaged lenses reduce headlight visibility when you need them the most.
