2023 Sierra GMC 2500
The GMC Sierra 2500 is a heavy-duty pickup truck that stands out from its competition with its upscale cabin and impressive towing capabilities. This capable truck offers a wide range of trims and configurations, making it a good choice for any needs. For the 2023 model year, the Sierra 2500 remains the same, carrying over without any significant changes.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Sierra 2500 Pro comes with 17-inch steel wheels and manually adjustable trailering mirrors. You can bump up to the SLE for 17-inch alloy wheels, upgraded exterior trim elements, power-adjustable side mirrors with heat, and the MultiPro tailgate. Choose the SLT for 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, LED fog lights, and power-folding and extending trailering mirrors. The AT4 adds skid plates, a suspension tuned for off-road conditions, and a spray-in bedliner, while the high-end luxury-focused Denali has 20-inch wheels, side steps, and a power-sliding rear window.
Engine (Power)
The base engine for the Sierra 2500 is a 6.6-liter gas V-8 that puts out 401 horsepower. It used GMC's six-speed automatic transmission. To bump up the power, a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 is optional for any trim. It generates 445 horsepower and delivers 910 pound-feet of torque. The V-8 also upgrades to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The AT4 and Denali come standard with four-wheel drive, and the rest of the lineup comes with rear-wheel drive and offers four-wheel drive.
Performance
The Duramax turbodiesel engine is the better choice if you tow regularly. When equipped with this, a gooseneck hitch, and the tow package, this truck can pull up to 20,000 pounds. If you have a conventional hitch, it can still pull up to 18,500 pounds and carry a 3,979-pound payload.
Interior
Inside, there's room for up to six people in the larger Sierra 2500 cabs. The Pro has vinyl upholstery and manual windows, but just a step up to the SLE adds cloth upholstery, power door locks and windows, and storage under the front seats. The SLT has leather upholstery, and it comes with power-adjustable heated front seats. For even more luxury, bump up to the Denali, which adds premium leather.
Technology starts with a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB ports, and Bluetooth. Stepping up to the SLE gets you an 8-inch touch screen and a Wi-Fi hot spot, and the SLT adds a 120-volt power outlet. The Denali has the most tech, with integrated navigation, a Bose stereo, wireless charging, and an upgraded driver information display.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Sierra 2500 has a rearview camera and comes with the Teen Driver system. For a comprehensive list of advanced driver aids, you can step up to the Denali. It comes with forward collision warning with mitigation, lane-departure warning, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera. The Denali also has automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and a safety alert seat. Additional safety systems that GMC offers as options include a head-up display, a trailering camera system, and a digital rearview mirror.
