2023 Buick Encore GX

The Encore GX has three trim levels, and they each have their own exterior features you'll want to keep in mind. At the base level, you'll find the Preferred trim, which already features big 18-inch alloy wheels, an Active front grille shutter, LED fog lights, and heated side mirrors. Plus, the headlights are automatic halogen models. Opt for the Select trim level, and the Encore GX looks a bit different thanks to its roof-mounted side rails. This is also the first trim level with the option for the Experience Buick Package, which adds a panoramic glass moonroof and puts chrome inserts into the wheels. The Essence trim is the top-of-the-line Encore GX, with LED headlights and taillights along with memory side mirrors. You may even upgrade it with an add-on package that puts a washer on the rear camera mirror and includes rain-sensing wipers.

There are two engine options available for the Encore GX, and they both offer plenty of power to get you where you need to go. The base-level engine is a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder that boasts 137 horsepower with 162 pound-feet of torque. If that's not enough, you can upgrade to the 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that pushes the horsepower to 155 and features 174 pound-feet of torque. No matter which you choose, though, you can enjoy the fuel economy that this class of car is known for

One of the key features you'll need to decide upon is whether you want front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive automatically comes with the more powerful engine, but it's an optional upgrade for the smaller engine as well. The FWD version uses a continuously variable transmission, while the AWD utilizes a nine-speed automatic that's notably responsive.

When you're driving the Encore GX, one of the main aspects you'll notice about the interior is how remarkably quiet it is. This is thanks to Buick QuietTuning technology that does a lot of sound deadening to keep the ride quiet and comfortable. The cargo capacity is also quite impressive, with 23.5 cubic feet of space without putting the rear seats down. Fold them down, however, and you'll have 50.2 cubic feet of space at your disposal.

Considering how often people use this class of car for family vehicles, safety is essential. Fortunately, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the new Encore GX a full five stars for its overall rating. Driver assistance features are standard, such as forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.
