El Paso Winter Destinations 2022 - Casa Buick GMC Blog

It is almost winter in Texas, and that means the jacket in the back of your closet will be useful for another couple of weeks. The mild winters make a great time to get out and hit the road when you can travel with the windows down and enjoy the wind in your hair. That’s what we love to do at Casa Buick GMC, and we have a lot of great places we’d like to visit this year. If you need something to feel the wind in your hair, visit us here for a great deal on your next Buick or GMC for the whole family.

El Paso Museum of History – How the Railroad Transformed El Paso

Speaking of travel, learn more about the history of a form of travel that played an important role in the growth of our hometown: the railroad. The El Paso Museum of History presents a look at how the railroad shaped El Paso by the executive director of the Railroad & Transportation Museum of El Paso, Prince McKenzie. The event will end with a walk over to the Railroad Museum to see the train that served as the model for the one in Tom Lea’s drawing The Arrival of the First Train in El Paso. It happens on December 1st at 5:30 PM.

WinterFest 2022

El Paso WinterFest returns once more to downtown. The fun starts the weekend before Thanksgiving (November 19th) and runs through January 1st. This recent tradition began in 2015 and has only gotten better with each passing year. See the decorations in San Jacinto Plaza and enjoy the skating rink. Live music will happen around the rink every Friday and every Saturday is theme night, so get your costumes ready. Free holiday movies will be playing at the Plaza Theatre, and there will be food from local restaurants. It’s a great way to celebrate the season this year.

Enjoy the Trails at the Franklin Mountains

If you had a little too much candy at Halloween or turkey at Thanksgiving, there’s nothing like hitting the trail when the temperatures drop. Franklin Mountains State Park has more than just trails. You can bring your mountain bike and some camping gear if you plan to stay for a while. If you’re particularly adventurous, there’s rock climbing as well. If you’re not quite up to roughing it, there are RV areas as well.
